The Manager of Development Communications is responsible for the strategic creation and maintenance of fundraising campaign marketing communication materials, letters, presentations, and development-related content on The Cleveland Orchestra’s website. The Manager leads philanthropic communication fundraising strategy and execution, ensuring consistent compelling fundraising messages. Communications must be created in a timely and cost-effective manner, targeted for specific audiences anywhere The Cleveland Orchestra performs, and of a quality commensurate with the world-class stature of The Cleveland Orchestra.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Three to five years prior similar experience.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience.
- Excellent editing skills and experience.
- Knowledge of the use of the website as a communication tool essential; website design and experience desirable.
- A working knowledge of professional development practices that permeates all
materials and informs all communications; knowledge of orchestras and the arts preferred. - Demonstrated above average proficiency with computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite. Highly adept at use of advanced functions including creation of charts, graphics, complex presentations, etc.
- Experience with InDesign and Tessitura a plus; ability to interpret and formulate communications around data-driven material.
- A firm understanding of the donor engagement, solicitation & stewardship process is desirable.
- Experience in project management.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, presentation and consistency.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently interact with all institutional levels.
- Flexibility, ability to develop systems and procedures to assure efficiency and cost effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
